For the people who don't know me personally, well I am more than a connoisseur of sneakers and urban fashion; I am also a graffiti artist. I have been throwing up tags since my middle school days in Florida and leaving my mark on just about anything I can. Being a member of 12oz Prophet, Bombing Science, Pure Graffiti, and other graffiti forums made me say "why not put a art section on Nike Rumble to show the "sneaker world" that it is not only about the sneakers, clothes and music; but it is also about the arts.
For the people who don't know already, majority of sneaker brands and clothing companies get there inspirations from graffiti artist and other urban artists alike. For example, New York artist Stash has put in a lot of work with sneaker brands from Nike, Reebok, WeSC, Clark and many others. His most well known sneakers are the the many Nike Air Force 1s, Air Max 95s, and the Reebok x Stash x Packer Shoes collaboration.
But Stash is not the only person that gets recognized for his art being put on sneakers, Futura2000 (known for the Nike SB "UNKLE", Dunk "FLOM", and others), Claw Money (known for her Nike collaborations with the Vandal and Blazer), Haze (known for his series of Nike Dunks), Freegums (known for his recent work with the LeBron 9), So-Me (worked on the 1 World "Busy-P" AF1), Mister Cartoon (best known for his tattoos, "LA Cartoon" AF1s, and Simpson Vans), Maze23 (known for his laser etched AF1s), and with many more to name I can not forget Jean-Michel Basquiat who art is being exposed to the sneaker world by Reebok.
Without this "urban art" there would be very few clothing companies that most of you might wear like Obey (which was founded by Shepard Fairey who started out as a street artist), Claw Money (who is a female graffiti artist who specializes in female attire), Kid Robot (who's clothing is designed by a staff of an array of artist), Ecko Unltd (which is owned by the famous Marc Ecko who was brave enough to tag the President's plane in 2006), along with countless other brands who are owned or work with urban artist to appeal to the society that buys it.
So that was basically a small introduction to tell you how the graffiti/urban/street/ what ever you want to call it art world coincides with the world of sneakers. I will be including art post from here on along with the sneaker information you are already accustomed to.
